Ten facts about Meghan Markle's wedding dress




The dress chosen by Meghan Markle during her wedding with Prince Harry is surely the most discussed type of cloths of the year. The stunning, timeless dress in which the 36-year-old Markle finally stood on the steps of St George's Chapel in Windsor was the Claire Waight Keller's handiwork, who is artistic director of Parisian fashion house Givenchy.

1. Meghan's veil was embroidered with the national flowers of each of the 53 commonwealth countries.
2. The crops of wheat were blended with the flowers which symbolised love and charity.
3. The veil was decorated with the poppy of California (it represented Meghan's place of birth), and with a wintersweet, a flower that grows in Harry and Meghan's garden at Kensington Palace.
4.Hundreds of hours were spent to sew the flowers on the veil.
5. The veil which was carried by the sons of Meghan's best friend Jessica Mulroney was almost 8 meter long.
6. Meghan Markle's bouquet included flowers picked by Prince Harry from their private garden one day before the wedding. It included also forget-me-nots, favourite flowers of Princess Diana.
7. The bateau neckline is a familiar style for Meghan – she wore a similar type of dress during an official visit to Wales with Prince Harry in January.
8. Meghan Markle chose to work with Claire Waight Keller after meeting her in 2018 thanks to her "timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour." Meghan wanted also to highlight the success of Keller who has been the creative head of three fashion houses – Pringle of Scotland, Chloe and now Givenchy.
9. The last Givenchy wedding dress was in 2014 when Kim Kardashian-West married rapper Kanye West in Italy.
10. It's believed that Meghan's wedding dress costs around £100,000 and that Meghan had paid for it herself, just like Duchess Kate.
